V0ID

A visual representation for how sound constructs and deconstructs our perceived environment.

problem

people default to sight to understand physical space, often treating sound as mere background noise while standard visualizers offer only superficial effects. This creates a gap in spatial perception, preventing audiences from seeing how sound actively constructs, alters, and dissolves the environment around them.

solution

V0ID addresses this gap through real-time audio-reactivity and raycasting, positioning sound as the force that builds and destroys digital space. Stable audio frequencies generate solid geometric structures, while sharp transients break them down into scattered point clouds, visually rendering how acoustic mechanics shape and collapse human perception of space.

By stripping away color and using a gritty, particle-based texture, the piece forces the viewer to focus entirely on geometry, light, and motion.

Raycasting calculates distance to map physical boundaries. By making it audio-reactive, the music dictates the shape of the room. Quiet sounds create a tight, dense space, while loud peaks scatter the rays and shatter the walls. It acts as a musical sonar, using sound to map and manipulate the void.
